Christian Music - Leaders in the Church?

Lately, I’ve seen a surge of discussion on YouTube surrounding the Christian music industry, Michael Tait, and the Newsboys. Many people are feeling angry and disillusioned with the industry as a whole, with some even questioning their faith. The reports about Michael Tait’s actions, along with his own confession, are deeply troubling. I pray that the victims receive God’s strength and healing. I also pray that Michael Tait is sincere in his pursuit of recovery and gets the help he truly needs. If the issue stems from within the Newsboys group itself—contributing to these struggles—I pray the group undergoes an honest transformation.

What this makes apparent to me is that, as Christians, we often forget who we are truly called to follow. We see talented singers and musicians crafting beautiful, God-honoring music and begin to view them as leaders of the Church. We hear eloquent preachers and assume they have everything figured out. But these people are just that—people. Humans with their own flaws and sinful temptations.

We must remember not to idolize these people. Even the best among us will eventually let you down—but God never will.
